Moving from your Internet T1 to an Ethernet Product

Both Internet T1 and Ethernet solutions aim to fulfill the same roll as high-speed, high-performance networks. However, Ethernet solutions substantially out perform Internet T1 services in a handful of different ways and with high-end services from every leading provider in the industry, it's never been easier to make the switch to Ethernet.

Get Better Option for Businesses to Switch from Internet T1 to Ethernet
In short, T1 solutions are relatively similar to business DSL services as both run through the phone lines. However, T1 solutions out perform DSL solutions as they’re dedicated lines serving only one user and not shared with other surrounding systems. Internet T1 packages also include VoIP support that business DSL simply does not.

With a T1 line it's simple; there aren’t many options other than what provider to chose. Ethernet provides options. Ethernet over Copper provides symmetrical bandwidth ranging from 2Mbps to 20Mbps. Ethernet over Fiber provides higher bandwidth options for larger companies or companies looking to move massive amounts of data extremely quick. Ethernet over Fiber solutions typically range from 3Mbps all the way through 100Gbps with and although the physical limitations of electrical cable impede on speeds over 10Gbps, the physical limitations of Ethernet over Fiber have not been reached. Both Ethernet over Copper or Ethernet over Fiber are often available to customers to satisfy their Internet, voice, point-to-point, MPLS, and integrated needs at costs lower than what they’re currently paying for T1 service!

Benefits of Ethernet:

  • High-Bandwidth : Far surpassing it’s original 10Mbps top speed; Ethernet solutions are now available with speeds ranging from 2Mbps all the way to 100Gbps.
  • Scalability : Top service providers all offer Ethernet solutions in a variety of bandwidth options incrementally increasing from 2Mbps through 100Gbps.
  • Flexibility : When your company grows, your data needs grow as well. Conveniently, the same router that handles your initial 10Mbps Ethernet solution also functions with the 100Mbps you now need.
  • Security : Ethernet lines keep your top secret data secure within your own private network and make it easy to transport important data between coworkers and workgroups.

Aside from minimal (and constantly shrinking) limitations as to where Ethernet services can be installed, Ethernet solutions blow Internet T1 lines out of the water.

Those looking for top-notch, high-speed, reliable network solutions need to look no further – make the switch today.

Asymmetric Ethernet Connectivity

With so many internet options today it is difficult for busy business owners to stay up to date on new internet options as the hit the market. For that reason we have decided to provide some background articles to help you better understand and considers some of the up and coming features and options. In this article we will be discussing Asymmetrical Ethernet Connectivity, how it works and where it works well.

Data Streams

Make your website more accessible and interactive by loading dynamic content faster with Asymmetric Ethernet Connection
Typically data streams at a symmetrical rate. Please allow me to introduce an analogy here that will make this clearer. Consider that the server is your office in the city and the end user is your home. You have 3 options of how to travel between the two locations. You can take the freeway, or take a somewhat longer drive on the streets, or a very fast drive on a toll road.

Symmetrical Data Flow

If you were to flow at a symmetric rate between the two locations you would simply take the freeway to and from work. In the technology world you would be dividing your bandwidth in half and using half to get to the office and half to get home.

Asymmetrical Data Flow

Alternatively you could choose to employ asymmetrical data flow. For instance, if we go back to our example, you may be in a hurry to get into work, but you may not mind taking a bit of extra time to get home. In this case you would use the toll road to get in quickly and the streets to get home. Again, you have the same set amount of bandwidth, but you are choosing to use more on the way there and less on the way back.

Why does this work well for websites?

Your website likely offers dynamic content and an interactive experience for the user. It takes a lot of bandwidth to deliver this type of experience. And, as you know, potential customers only want to interact with websites that load fast and successfully. It behooves you to put extra speed and bandwidth into this downstream flow (content to user or, in this case, consumer). Especially, since upstream flow from the potential customer to your website will likely be much less dynamic and require far less support.

Asymmetrical Ethernet connectivity is ideal for supporting websites. But, it is important to remember that Asymmetrical Ethernet is not ideal for all work situations. For instance, Asymmetrical Ethernet would not work well for a video conference where both parties are streaming live. You need to be sure that you have the right connection in place for each unique situation. We here at FastBlue are experts in evaluating and assessing the IT needs of small businesses. Please contact us today and speak with one of our experienced customer service representatives. We look forward to working with you.

Irvine Ethernet over Copper

Ethernet over Copper is an effective internet solution for small and medium sized businesses.
If you are a new business owner starting out, or if you are a small business owner experiencing rapid growth you may want to pause and take some time to consider your IT services. Surely you have a lot on your plate, but the truth is that business IT options are constantly evolving. If you don't step back and take the time to assess your current Internet solutions and consider new options you may be missing out. One of the most recent developments in IT solutions is Ethernet over Copper. In this article we would like to give you a brief overview of this solution since it is commonly an effective solution for small and medium sized businesses.

If you are currently working with or considering a T1 circuit or a bonded T1 circuit for your business, you should note that Ethernet over Copper is priced much lower. Additionally, the amount of service, or circuit speed, is much easier to upgrade with Ethernet over Copper than with Internet Bonded T1. While both are scalable, T1 requires the phone company to come in and install an additional loop. As you know scheduling of installations typically results in wait time. With Ethernet over Copper you can truly increase the circuit speed instantly through online management. This ensures that you are only paying for the service that you need at all times, rather than paying for extraneous service that you do not have the capacity to make use of. Another cost saving benefit of Ethernet over Copper comes from the fact that it runs over simple, traditional copper lines. By using these basic telephone wires you save yourself the cost of building out a fiber system. The use of Copper wires instead of fiber is also beneficial because it promises increased reliability. The copper wires are run in multiple pairs. Because of this, if one pair shorts or malfunctions your data will continue to travel at the same rate by utilizing the other wires in the copper connection. This reliability not only gives you confidence as a business owner, but it also reflects well on your business.

Although Ethernet over Copper is a wonderful new solution for business IT connections, it does have some limitation. The most significant limitation is availability. Currently Ethernet over Copper is available exclusively in metropolitan area. The reach of this service is expanding every day and businesses in Irvine are currently covered by Ethernet over Copper. If you are a business owner starting out or if your business is expanding, or if you are simply comparing options and considering updating your IT service you should take some time to look into the benefits of Ethernet over Copper.
